WHO AM I?
Iām Caitlin, a 22 year old Dietitian from Devon. I graduated in 2024 from Plymouth university. I currently work at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, seeing a range of patients including those with a recent stroke, respiratory problems, malnutrition and those needing weight management services.
My passion for Dietetics began when my sister was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2019. I was interested in the dietary changes that she needed and the subsequent changes to her digestion and absorption following an emergency illeostomy. She needed support in eating larger amounts of food too support weight gain and the correct ones for her condition. This lead me to researching the condition and developing my interest in nutrition.
During lockdown in 2020, I began running and eating healthier. It quickly progressed into disordered and restrictive eating patterns which caused long term damage to my mental and physical health. Through recovery from my disordered eating, I fell in love with Dietetics and enjoyed knowing the importance of all food groups and building a healthy relationship with food.
Now I have improved my relationship with food, I view it as fuel for my hobbies such as weightlifting, paddleboarding and hiking. Additionally, I love baking and cooking delicious food for myself and my family.
I pride myself on being empathetic and good at listener. My personal experiences supported my development as a Dietitian. Embark on a journey of health with me, and heal your relationship with food.
